Christoph Christ
I'm a software consultant based in Vienna. For more than 23 years I've helped teams build, scale and operate software — and, for the past few years, integrate AI responsibly into the way they work.
What drives me
I like software that feels good because it's understandable — not because it's clever. My approach is pragmatic: when a piece of Markdown is enough, I don't write a concept paper. When three lines of Bash do the job, I don't build an operator. The tool follows the problem, not the trend.
Background
- Computer science degree (TU Wien)
- Several years in production engineering teams as lead and architect
- Independent consultant under chcnet consulting since 2004
- Focus areas: distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, Anthropic Claude
How I work
I enjoy working with teams that sit between worlds: too big for purely intuitive decisions, too small for a dedicated architecture board. That's where an outside perspective is most valuable — and where I try not to make myself any bigger than I need to be.
A typical engagement runs six to twelve weeks with clearly defined deliverables. I don't take on people-management responsibilities inside customer teams; I coach, I support, and where it fits I write code alongside the team.
Outside of work
When I'm not at the laptop, I'm usually outside — most often on the bike, and in summer in the water as well. Sport is the most reliable reset I have between two intense project phases.
